I think this song is inappropriate and if you add the very last lines I think it is even more inappropriate and builds misconceptions and images of what Native Americans are like. When they no longer fit the stereotypes songs like this provide.
By Amber from Texas on 12 June 2009
My daughter came home from day care singing "Ten little alien boys & girls, the boat flipped over, ooh-ah, shoot the arrow..." I was utterly confused until I found this! Thank you! Especially for adding those last parts & I think Tina needs to get over herself & "please go away".
By Emily from Wyoming on 27 June 2009
In response to Geraldine and Tina, I think it is unfair to deny the Native AMericans credit of their heritage. Living in the west , and knowing how proud the tribes are of their hunts and artifacts of the past has proved that the arrow verses are eqaully adequate as they are appropriate.
By Jaymie from Honolulu, Hi on 15 September 2009
My daughter's preschool sings this songs as 5 little kids went camping, and it makes perfect sense. They don't sing the hunting part but they do sing it boompa boompa shoot the arrow. I think this song is terrific! The have cute little motions for every verse and the tune is very catchy - between the two, it is very easy for her to learn and remember.
By Ambar from Ontario, Cailf. Usa on 25 November 2009
My 3 year old started singing this song a few days ago. I didn't understand what she was singing. All she said was Ooh - ah ooh-ah shoot the arrow come all all little boys and girls. It was a week until I had to ask the teacher. She told me it was the 10 little Indians song. I didn't remember the verses my daughter was singing until I found this post.

I just wanted to share that I am sitting on my floor after thanksgiving and imade my whole family and myself laugh until we cried, my mom who is a teacher Wants to know if there is a song about pilgrams to go with this? Thanks for making my thanksgivng so fun!
By Amberlee from Ithaca on 18 February 2010
Actually, this song is a disgusting way to teach American children that what happened to Native Americans in this country is okay. It is a subtle message but it demonstrates that in the beginning there were many "Indians" and then the Spaniards slowly killed them off. Thanksgiving represents the genocide of the Native American people and is still continuing today.

You guys are taking this kids song much too seriously? I have fond memories of this song from when I was a child.
By Roberta from Rockwood, Pa. on 14 May 2010
I would like a copy of the music to this song to use for Bible School. Thanks
By Shelly from Ohio on 13 July 2010
This is a fun song! I never thought of it as being bad or disrespectful? From what I can tell ,it mainly teaches kids how to count to 10 both forward and backward in a fun way.
By Vu Hue from Hai Phong- Vietnam on 28 July 2010
I love this song and i hope when i sing this song for my son, it's a good way to teach him English. It's also easy to remember the lyrics. I draw a smiling face on my fingers and wave them when singing to make my son happy. You should try this way, your baby like it.
By Tony from Mn on 22 August 2010
I am Native American and I was taught this song when I was in kindergarten. There is nothing inapropriate about this song ,you people are crazy! Your looking too deep into the song reaching for something that isnt there, its a childrens song. Get over it!
By Ashley from Canada on 27 August 2010
i think this song is so cute i sing it to my kids at school and at home i just love it so much
By Trevor Boller from Canada on 21 November 2010
Why post if it offends people. Fact: this song although altered on this version, was about genocide of Native children in history. Why don't we just sing about killing jews while we are at it, meaning is that okay?
By Jasmine from United States on 25 November 2010
I remember singing this song in pre-school, and the truth is people... the kid's arent thinking of any stareo types when there singing it, so i think somepeople need to just cool it on the whole 'world explosion, if kids sing songs about indians'
By Mamabear from United States on 29 January 2011
Ring around the rosy is about the plague. People still sing that! Kids are just singing and like the hand movements. Don't be so uptight!
By Lisa from Australia on 25 February 2011
We love this song at day care, although we changed it to 10 little indian kindy kids.
By Samantha from India on 10 March 2011
It is fine, but i'm a bit angry and happy too as we are used to educate pre-school indians

Prakriti from Yorktown, Usa, I have been looking everywhere for the rest of the words to that song! All my little boy could remember was the "ooh ahh ohh ahh shoot the arrow!"
By Amanda from United States on 10 June 2011
I sing this song to my daughter, but I substitute animals and animal sounds. For example, one little, two little, three little kitties....ten little kitties, kitties go meow, meow, meow. She loves it.
By Mary from Egypt on 14 June 2011
I used to sing this song 20 years ago at preschool and all i remwmber is 1 little 2 little..... and oah oah shoot the arrow, i tried to search for the lyrics abt 3 years ago but invain, till i found them today, thanks for adding them. I tried to teach this song to two 2-year old girls starting with oah oah shoot that arrow but today i can teach them all the rest as i know now that this is the rest of the same song i was looking for. It's really a great one

I don't know what you all are smoking...? Dressed up in a "rad" Indian outfit I was very proud of for a 2nd grade play (in 1966), I was Indian number 3 and my lines were: "Three little Indians heard a cow moo... one ran away and then there were two". It's a freakin "counting song for children" you damn fools...! Get the hell over yourselves and return the song to it's original form. As for those who are looking for something prejudice and hateful? Try "looking in your mirrors"!

By Billy Bob from Bahamas on 9 October 2011
I dont get why people are thinking this is racist or anything like that, this is just a song and its not that bad. If it is bad then you dont think comedians are funny b/c comedians make songs and joke like this. And the person who made this song wasn't trying to be mean.
By Robin from United States on 17 October 2011
I don't like it at all. And I belive if the people of the world would have learned from Native Americans our earth would have many more generations to come. the wastefull ways and because of lack of appreciation for all things on earth & greed and my close observations I believe soon our earth will explode we will not have water or food ,,,. Not until the last animal hunted last tree cut last river is poisoned and fish caught will you that money can not be eaten. Cree prophecy Robin Silver Lake WA. defend the earth, or be her enemy.
By Wendy from United States on 25 October 2011
I substitute other three syllable words for Indian because it's fun to change it up! My daughter's name is Isabel Anne...I sing: 1 little, 2 little, 3 little Isabels....10 little Isabel Annes. I have also heard "Puppy dogs" and "Kitty cats". Whatever your kid likes...
By Pat from United States on 14 November 2011
Just because something does not sound bias doesn't mean it's not. The things we teach children mold who they grow up to be. We need to be responsible for the things we teach children. IS the term Indian correct? if not using it in the song is bias. Every nationality has a named attached to them that is degrading would you think it was just a kids song if it was about your culture ?
By Aj from United States on 30 November 2011
You shulod have put a video for both songs.
By Emma from New Zealand on 19 December 2011
I love this song and we sing it at Day-care, it really is a fun way to teach children to count. For those of you who think it inappropriate - Im wondering why you were looking it up in the first place? I loathe those war style shooting games and sometimes find them offensive - so I dont play them, I dont allow my child to play them and I definitely dont go looking them up online. Remember You have the power to choose if you want to sing this song or not.
By Jodi from United States on 14 January 2012
I am American Indian, Native American, whatever the "pc" term is these days. I'm not offended in the least by this song and sing it with my kids. People really need to lighten up.
By Lily from American Samoa on 22 January 2012

One lil two lil three lil niggers, Four lil five lil six lil Jews, Seven lil eight lil nine lil chinks, Ten lil honky boys
By Troll Bot 3000 from Burundi on 29 January 2012
You all need to lighten up. Indian isn't a derogatory word. If you complain about this then I assume you're a frumpy suburban left-leaning parent who has so much free time that you can worry about things like this. I feel bad for your kids because you must be overprotective and shield your little snowflake from every wrong in the world. That's no way for your child to learn. I'm changing the lyrics from Indian to liberal. Have fun living in your PC fantasy land.

Oh good grief! Why has everything got to be about America? India is a country and the people there are Indians.
By Florencia from Australia on 26 March 2012
Look, I'm from Australia, do I don't really understand this whole 'native Americans' thing. BUT this song is a COUNTING song for kids. They are not thinking about oh! They are teasing indians! They are thinking hey! This song is catchy or hmm what come after 3? Seriously guys, it's a children's song. And if you don't like, oh well lucky you don't have to listen to it :)
