99 Bottles of Pop on the Wall

Song Video

Lyrics

99 bottles of pop on the wall
99 bottles of pop
If one of those bottles should happen to fall,
98 bottles of pop on the wall.

98 bottles of pop on the wall
98 bottles of pop
If one of those bottles should happen to fall,
97 bottles of pop on the wall.

97 bottles of pop on the wall
97 bottles of pop
If one of those bottles should happen to fall,
96 bottles of pop on the wall.

Repeat. .

3 bottles of pop on the wall
3 bottles of pop
If one of those bottles should happen to fall,
2 bottles of pop on the wall.

2 bottles of pop on the wall
2 bottles of pop
If one of those bottles should happen to fall,
1 bottle of pop on the wall.

1 bottle of pop on the wall
1 bottle of pop
If that bottles should happen to fall,
No bottles of pop on the wall.

START OVER!

Information About 99 Bottles of Pop on the Wall

This is also sung as 99 bottles of beer, which is an anonymous folk song that dates back to the mid-20th century. It is a traditional song sung in the US as well as Canada.

Most variations of this song can be tracked back to an old English song called Ten Green Bottles. Other variants of the original include 'Ten German Bombers'.

This song is popular on long car rides, or bus trips to school events. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to sing all the verses. It can also be repeated as many times as you want. It teaches kids to count backwards.

Dozens of mathematical variants have been collected by Donald Byrd. The variant that goes 'the square root of (number) of bottles?' was featured in an episode of Malcom in the Middle.

This song has also been used in computer programming. It's used as a practice exercise for studying programming, and a demonstration of the differences between programming languages.

A variant that goes '99 cartons of milk on the wall, take one down open the spout, drinkity drink till the milk runs out' was heard in an episode of iCarly.

I'm the kind of guy who goes negative instead of starting over. Just when people think it's done, it gets even worse :) Might try the square root version sometime.
