My brother and I were obviously very morbid children because our version involved him eating his family. I was genuinely surprised to find out he was actually supposed to be eating cabbage.

My mum used to sing this to me (Wendy, I'm now 29) when I was little. Now I sing this to my children, Caleb 5 and Wyllow 1. They both love it when Cecil is sick and has a volcanic explosion, lol. :•)

I only know this as a poem. When I was a teen I performed it at a church social dressed as a school girl and with a lisp, the audience found it hilarious and were falling over with laughter. I thought I was such a fabulous performer until I discovered that there was a gentleman in the audience named Cecil Grubb!
