Christ was born on Christmas Day is a Christmas carol originally composed by Thomas Helmore. It is one of the songs in the collection titled "Resonet in Laudibus". Thomas Helmore was a English choir master, writer, author and editor of hymns in carols.
The Resonet in laudibus was written and published in 1853. Some characteristics of the song include the use of old/Victorian era English and had the words shortened by omitting syllables with the use of apostrophes. e. g. "Wreathe the holly, twine the bay", "The God, the Lord, by all ador'd forever".
