Christopher Robin Is Saying His Prayers

Little Boy kneels at the foot of the bed,
Droops on the little hands little gold head.
Hush! Hush! Whisper who dares!
Christopher Robin is saying his prayers.

God bless Mummy. I know that's right.
Wasn't it fun in the bath tonight?
The cold's so cold, and the hot's so hot.
Oh! God bless Daddy I quite forgot.
If I open my fingers a little bit more,
I can see Nanny's dressing gown on the door.
It's a beautiful blue, but it hasn't a hood.
Oh! God bless Nanny and make her good.
Mine has a hood, and I lie in bed,
And pull the hood right over my head,
And I shut my eyes and I curl up small,
And nobody knows that I'm there at all.
Oh! Thank you, God, for a lovely day.
And what was the other I had to say?
I said, "Bless Daddy,' so what can it be?
Oh! Now I remember it. God bless me!

Little Boy kneels at the foot of the bed,
Droops on the little hands little gold head.
Hush! Hush! Whisper who dares!
Christopher Robin is saying his prayers.

I sang this song on TV in the 1970 in a children's talent quest. I was about 11 years old, dressed in pyjamas and a dressing gown. I have never ever forgotten it. I'm looking for the original music to sing it now as a 55 year old.

My mother and my nanny used to sing this song to my brother and I when we were about three years old. I have always loved it. Now I'm a great-grandmother , I have made one each with my own version of names added for, so far, three of my great grand children. Claire, Liam and Ezra. I put my lyrics in frames for each of my precious babies. I will be singing the correct music to Christopher Robin is saying his Prayers as soon as each one turns two or three or maybe even before.

Mom sang this to me up to about age 4...although I love the song I disliked hearing it when Mom san it because it meant it was time for bed. We lost Mom earlier this year...what I'd give to hear it one more time.

It's an absolutely stunning, simple song. I've used it for teaching for many years and nearly all of my 5th and 6th grade boy singers over the last 12 years have learnt it. They've sung it for concerts and contests. The ones who first sang it ten years ago tell me they really treasure it, and I do too! It helps me remember what it was like to be 6 or 7 or 8.

my little brother memorized this song as a very young boy - it was quite a feat for him. He has passed away recently, but I still can remember helping him with this task over 55 years ago.

I learned of this song from the advertisement on the back of sheet music I had in the 1950's. There was only a snippet of the words and music. I have always wished I could find it all. It is a very sweet song.

I used to sing this to my girls when they were little. Now my 1st grand baby is on the way and I plan to sing it to her all the time. I wish I could find a recording to give my daughter to use.
