I learned this song in Girl Scouts, to be sung in a round. It also included the background tune with the words: "1 lollipop, 2lollipop, 3...." to 6 with a "pepper pepper pepper pop" at the end. It's all about the melody, harmony thing - lyrics don't help :(

We sang this as a "round" at Girl Scout Camp. But sang the second line as: Fish and Chips and Vinegar, Pepper, Pepper, Pepper, Salt! (with the motion of shaking pepper and salt). Thanks for the great memories!
