All God's Creatures Have A Place In The Choir

Song Video

Lyrics

All God's creatures have a place in the choir,
Some sing low, some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they've got now!

Listen to the bass it's the one on the bottom
Where the bullfrog croaks, the hippopotamus
Moans and groans with a big to-do,
The old cow just goes "Moo!'.

The dogs and the cats they take up the middle
As the honey bee hums, the cricket fiddles
The donkey brays and the pony neighs
The old grey badger sighs.

All God's creatures have a place in the choir,
some sing low, some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they've got now!

Listen to the top and the little birds singing
The melody with the high notes ringin'
The good owl sighs over everything,
The blackbird disagrees.

Singin' in the night time, singin' in the day
Little duck quacks and he's on his way
And the otter hasn't got that much to say
The porqupine talks to himself.

All God's creatures have a place in the choir,
some sing low, some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they've got now!

It's a simple song a living song everywhere
By the ox the fox and the grizzly bear
The grumpy alligator and the hawk above
The sly old weasel and turtle dove.

Instead of "creatures" this version has "critters" and other animals

All God's critters got a place in the choir
Some sing low, some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
And some just clap their hands, or paws
Or anything they got.

Listen to the bass, it's the one on the bottom

While the honey bee hums and the cricket fiddles

All God's critters got a place in the choir
Some sing low, some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
And some just clap their hands, or paws
Or anything they got.

Listen to the top where the little birds sing
On the melody with the high note ringing
The hoot owl hollars over everything
And the jaybird disagrees

Singin' in the night-time, singin' in the day
Little duck quacks, and he's on his way
The possum ain't got much to say
And the porcupine talks to himself

All God's critters got a place in the choir
Some sing low, some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
And some just clap their hands, or paws

My son learned this years ago in children's choir. I quoted the chorus to my husband this morning and discovered he'd never heard of it. I'm so glad to find this site and enjoy the song once again.

I heard this song on the radio about 20 years ago and managed to remember the chorus. As a teacher I often sang that, repeated endlessly, with young children who loved it. I'm now retired and have just taken up the violin. I kept thinking of the tune and looked it up. Absolute joy to listen to the whole thing and even more joy to realise I can scrape along to the music. One to share with the grandchildren!

What a great happy song! And fun to sing and hear! Great for clap along, too! I'm going to learn to play it on the harmonica if I can figure out which key to play it in. Anybody know? Rusty_rvb@msn.com Thank you.

I just heard / watched the Celtic Thunder version of this song and immediately went on a search for the words (hard to hear the words over the cheering audience in a few place). I love it! I've watched it about 12 times in two days! I love the idea of the St. Francis blessing.
