Im A Little Doll

I'm a little doll, who has just been broken
Falling off my mommy's knees
I'm a little doll, who has just been mended
Now won't you tell me please.

Are my ears on straight, is my nose in place
Have I got a good expression on my face
Are my blue eyes bright, do I look alright
To be taken home on Christmas Day.

When I first came here, just a month ago
Brought in by a little girl, who loved me so
She began to cry, until I told her why
To be taken home on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day is drawing near
And I'm getting scared
I wish I could see in a mirror
How I've been repaired.

I would call for her soon, but I'm worried so
Will she love me, like she did a month ago
Are my ears on straight, I can hardly wait
To be taken home on Christmas Day.

I first heard this song sung by a precocious classmate in Primary school, and later on the radio, that was back in the 1949, I wanted to give this song to my little great nieces 3 & 4 years old... also on top of old smokey.....and how much is that doggy in that window. also In Apple blossom time..I sang these songs as a child, I had a wonderful childhood.I think Rap music is just noise and awful noise at that...

This song brings back so many memories. It was a favourite used by all the dance academies at the end of year Christmas performance night, with all the 6 year olds dressed up like dolls and in giant shoe boxes standing on their ends across the stage, and performing and singing this song.I just loved it.Thanks for allowing me to re-visit my childhood
