Lavender blue and rosemary green,
When I am king you shall be queen.
Call up my maid at four of the clock,
Some to the wheel and some to the rock,
Some to make hay and some to thresh corn,
And you and I will keep the bed warm.

Information About Lavender Blue
"Lavender's Blue Dilly Dilly" or "Lavender's Blue" is an old English folk song which has its origins in the 17th century. There are known to be as many as thirty verses to the song with many variations of each verse. In 1805, a version taking the form printed above and known as "Lavender Blue" was recorded as a children's song in "Songs for the Nursery".
The earliest surviving version of the song was printed in a broadside dated between 1672 and 1685, and listed under the name "Diddle Diddle" or" The Kind Country Lovers".
Burl Ives sang an Academy Award nominated version of this song as part of the Walt Disney movie "So Dear to My Heart".
