Lazy Mary Will You Get Up?

Lyrics

Lazy Mary, will you get up,
Will you get up, will you get up?
Lazy Mary, will you get up,
So early in the morning? No, dear Mother, I won't get up,
I won't get up, I won't get up.
No, dear Mother, I won't get up,
So early in the morning.

Lazy Mary, will you get up,
Will you get up, will you get up?
Lazy Mary, will you get up,
So early in the morning? What'll you give me for my breakfast,
For my breakfast, for my breakfast?
What'll you give me for my breakfast,
So early in the morning?

A little bowl of bread and milk,
Of bread and milk, of bread and milk.
A little bowl of bread and milk,
So early in the morning. Then, dear Mother, I won't get up,
I won't get up, I won't get up.
Then, dear Mother, I won't get up,
So early in the morning.

A nice young man with rosy cheeks,
With rosy cheeks, with rosy cheeks!
A nice young man with rosy cheeks,
So early in the morning. Then, dear Mother, I will get up,
I will get up, I will get up.
Then, dear Mother, I will get up,
So early in the morning.

I also woke up with that song in my mind because I did not feel like getting up! My Mother used to get me up with the first verse, but I never heard beyond "No Mother I won't get up". Thanks for making it available. (I am 86)

I first leant this song in 1932 and 1933. I was born in 1930 in England and often hark back to it. The tune is quite catchy and stays in one's memory. Thank you for letting me see the words again. I used to have it on a small gramophone record.

When I woke up late this morning, my brain was echoing this song in my head. I couldn't remember all the words, however, and it was driving me nuts. My mom used to sing that to us as kids and I hadn't though of it in 60 years. Thanks for helping out with this great website. I use it to tweak my memory so I can sing these songs to my great nieces. They love them!

My Mom would wake me up on school mornings with the first verse of this song -- yes, 60 years ago. Brings back such loving memories. This is the first time I have seen all the lyrics. Thank you.
