Little Bunny FuFu (Foo Foo) Lyrics
Little bunny foo-foo, (hold up two fingers)
hopping through the forest (bounce your hand up and down)
Scooping up the field mice, (make a scooping motion with hand)
and bopping them on the head. (slap top of fist with palm)
(Spoken)
Then down came the Good Fairy, and she said:
Little Bunny Foo-Foo, (wag forefinger - "no-no")
I don't wanna see you (wag forefinger - "no-no")
Scooping up the field mice, (scooping motion with hand)
and bopping them on the head. (slap top of fist with palm)
(spoken)
I'll give you 3 chances,
and if you don't behave,
I'll turn you into a Goon!
Little bunny foo-foo,
hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice,
and bopping them on the head.
(Spoken)
Then down came the Good Fairy, and she said:
Little Bunny Foo-Foo,
I don't wanna see you
Scooping up the field mice,
and bopping them on the head.
(spoken)
I'll give you 2 chances,
and if you don't behave,
I'll turn you into a Goon!
Little bunny foo-foo,
hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice,
and bopping them on the head.
(Spoken)
Then down came the Good Fairy, and she said:
Little Bunny Foo-Foo,
I don't wanna see you
Scooping up the field mice,
and bopping them on the head.
(spoken)
I'll give you 1 more chance,
and if you don't behave,
I'll turn you into a Goon!
Little bunny foo-foo,
hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice,
and bopping them on the head.
(Spoken)
Then down came the Good Fairy, and she said:
Little Bunny Foo-Foo,
I don't wanna see you
Scooping up the field mice,
and bopping them on the head.
POOF! You're a goon!
(Spoken)
And the moral of the story is:
Hare today, goon tomorrow!

Information About Little Bunny FuFu (Foo Foo)
The song ‘Little Bunny Fu Fu'’ is a children's rhyme about the rabbit Little Bunny FuFu, who is harassing a population of field mice and gets scolded by a fairy. The poem is sung to the melody of "Down By The Station" and is a campfire favorite. When sung to small children the words are often accompanied by hand gestures to help reinforce the meaning and help with motor skills.
There are a number of versions of the song. It appears that the Girl Scouts in the US use "Bunny" while many in the UK use "Rabbit". In some versions, instead of "Good Fairy", the lyrics read as: Blue Fairy, Mother Nature, Fairy Princess, or Little Angel. Also, in some versions "Fu Fu" is sometimes spelled as "Foo Foo".

I learned this song back in the 60's when I was in GS and sang it to my daughter when she was little (she's 22!) and I fully intend to sing it to my grandchildren! I agree...get a grip susan, it's a fun song! (You want to burn some books too?) I think these days there are much more important things to worry about!

My daughter-in-law quietly entertained my 3 yr. old grand-daughter with this charming little song as we waited for dinner to be served in a restaurant. I had never heard it before. Thank you for posting the words!
By Melanie from Raymore Usa on 11 September 2009
I remembered this song out of the blue one day and couldn't remember the consequences of the bunny's bad behavior...so I asked my 4-year-old what he thought the fairy would do. He said, "She'd use her magic wand to destroy little bunny fufu!" and laughed. I can't wait until after preschool today, so I can tell him I found out how the song really goes. I also highly recommend she song Shortin' Bread. Laurie Berkner sings a great version even my mother & grandmother got a huge kick out of. My grandma sung that song to my mom, then she sung it to me, and of course, I sang it to my own child! He loves that one too!

I've been teaching this song for 30 years; and, at our school, the good fairy's warning has always been, I'll turn you into rabbit stew ! No offense to anyone and just as much fun. Sometimes I make beef stew for lunch that day and tell the children its rabbit stew, which only adds to their enjoyment of the song.

I loved this song when I was younger, although I found some of it doesn't translate very well. I showed this to a German roommate and apparently the "bopping them on the head" gesture has a more adult meaning. Just fyi, in case you feel like breaking out into song while traveling :)
By Stormy from Roanoke, Va, Usa on 20 May 2010
I have been searching for this song for the last 6 years for my 6 grandchildren and I finally found it! hooray and thanks so much! Stormy, age 55
By Emily from Victoria, Australia on 24 May 2010
I must admit, I do like this song. Yes, it does involve some 'violence' however it does, more importantly, suggest that actions, good or bad, do come with consequences, good or bad. A lesson well needed and well taught for Little Bunny Fu Fu!
By Becky from St Louis, Usa on 11 June 2010
I like this song and do not see it as violent. I see it teaching children it is not nice to bop anyone on the head or it may happen to them. We loved sing the song and doing the hand gestures with it.
By Kim from United States on 30 September 2010
Hey Susan, The little bunny is just "bopping them on the head"-not cutting off their tails or anything mean like that. And the good fairy is scolding the bunny, and then he gets turned into a goon, so there is a punishment for not obeying. Whaddya want?
By Randy from United States on 21 January 2011
I was recently introduced to this song by a friend, as she sang it to her son to vitalize the image of his new bunny toy. Her son and I loved the cute little song and he has become very attached to the toy as a result of the song. Though little bunny fufu was a bit of a bully to the field mice, the song and animated enactment forge a lasting image of playfulness. This is far less violent than many fairy tales of the past and the moral of consequences for bullying far outweigh the negative aspects. Great harmless fun for kids of all ages!
By Debbie from United States on 11 February 2011
I learned this song in 1956 at Girl Scout camp, and distinctly remember how I always loved the daring feeling of enacting Bunny Fou Fou's bad behavior, thrilled that doing those gestures was really allowed, at least for the duration of the song. Now I teach it to my Kindergarteners who are as enthralled as I was! Incidentally, "fou" is the French word for foolish, or fool.
By Meghan from United States on 14 February 2011
My mom used to sing this to my brothers and me when we were young, and we loved it! We did not think it was violent. It was just fun watching mom's hand movements and jumping when she "bopped" the mice.
By Pam from Canada on 15 February 2011
My brother learned this song in school more than 30 years ago, and I sang it to my kids all the time. Actually, when my teenage son is too tired to get out of bed, I sing it to him and do the actions.....gets him laughing every time! I couldn't remember the consequences, but now it will just add to the fun.
By Shirley from United States on 7 April 2011
Too violent? Get real. It says "bopping them on the head" not killing or anything. My grandson loves it. I'd rather him sing this than some song about shooting or sex.
By Kayla from United States on 26 April 2011
Bojour Je'mappelle Kayla! J'aime la petit lapin foo foo beacoup!

We sang this song at camp. We did it as a skit. Us girls performed it for the whole camp. I was the field mouse and our camp leader was the fairy. That was wow...when I was 14. I am now 36

By Mae from Canada on 28 June 2011
The first time I sang this song to my pre-school class, they loved it. When I asked them what they thought the moral of the story was, they started reciting some of the classroom rules (no hitting, no pushing, no bad words) I found it surprisingly helpful instead of violent.
By Laurie from United States on 30 August 2011
Really?...Violent?...Give me a break...better not watch the 3 stooges, you might DIE laughing...I'm just saying!

I consider your alternative extremely offensive, racist and insensitive. How dare you call yourself a child-friendly website! You are disgusting!
By Claire from United States on 6 March 2012
My nickname at gymnastics is Bunny Foo Foo. Mainly cuz I bounce around like a bunny. Who cares if it's for little people? Im 13, oldest in the class, I've been Bunny Foo Foo for as long as I can remember. I have some socks that are pink, have little white bunnies on them, and a cotton tail. This is my theme song.
By Norma from United States on 24 March 2012
I'm a Grandmother and i love this song. My Grandaughter sang this song to me when she was only 3 and i have never forgotten it.. She is now 19 years old. = )
By Kat from United States on 5 April 2012
Wow. I haven't heard this song in about three years, until my fith grade teacher started whistling it about three monthes ago. Now i have it stuck in my head. Even though i'm eleven years old, i still love this song. It's a classic. Plus, why do they make you answer a question to ensure that i'm human?!?!?! It's really odd. And pointless.:)
By Fay from United States on 8 April 2012
This is a great song. I learned this song in about the 2nd or 3rd grade, I'm now 54, I still sing it. In fact every Easter I call my brother-in-law up and leave him a message singing this song he thinks it's great! He cracks up. So you folks that finds this offensive I think something is seriously wrong, there are a lot of other things to be offended about and it's not this song.
