Little Peter Rabbit

Information About Little Peter Rabbit

This song is a children's nursery rhyme and is sung to the tune of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" originally called "John Brown's Body".

This song is for little children as it can be sung with hand activities. You sing it several times, the first verse with the motions and words. The next time you take away the words "little Peter Rabbit,' leaving the hand signs. The next time take away "fly upon his nose" so that eventually you have this, filling in the blanks with the hand signs.

Alternative Lyrics & Related Songs

This is an activity song you can use

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose.
Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose.
Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose
And he flipped and he flopped it and he flew away.

With "little Peter Rabbit" you make ears with your fingers.
With "fly upon his nose" you put your finger on your nose.
With "he flipped it and he flopped it" you do one hand and then the other flipping the fly
With "he flew away" you imitate a fly with both hands together and fingers as wings.

This is shorter by 1 verse

Little Peter rabbit had a fly upon his nose
Little Peter rabbit had a fly upon his nose
Little Peter rabbit had a fly upon his nose
So he swished it and he swashed it and the fly flew away.

Powder puff and curly whiskers
Powder puff and curly whiskers
Powder puff and curly whiskers
So he swished it and he swashed it and the fly flew away.

We were taught the one that Anna from Peterborough said! I still love it and I'm nearly 12! (You see, other people my age hate rhymes like this!) I like staying with my baby, younger side!

The purpose of this song is to ensure thatpeople are safe around flies and I think you'll find that the other naughty rabbit is Harry Hare. This is by far the best song ever written and should be number 1 in the charts. The fundamental essence of the song shows a hypothetical incoherence which could have unfathomable repurcusions. I'm aged 3.

This is the version we sing... Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose. Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose. Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose So he flipped and he flopped it and the fly flew away..... Floppy ears and curly wiskers, floppy ears and curly wiskers, floppy ears and curly wiskers, so he flipped it and flopped it and the fly flew away! (Use your hands to make floppy ears then make the shape of curly wiskers!)
