Lyrics

Magdalena Hagdalena
Ookatalka Walkatalka
Oka Poka Noka was her name.

She had two hairs on the top of her head,
One was alive and the other one was dead.

Chorus.

She had two eyes at the top of her head,
One was green and the other one was red!

Chorus.

She had a big nose in the middle of her face,
Wasn't very pretty and it took a lot of space!

Chorus.

She had two teeth in the middle of her mouth,
One pointed north and the other pointed south.

Chorus.

She had two knees in the middle of her belly,
One was peanut butter and the other one was jelly.

Chorus.

She had two feet as big as a mat,
One took a shower while the other took a bath!

Chorus.

Alternative Lyrics & Related Songs

This is an even more silly and playful version

There was a funny girl, she had a funny name
She got it from her pappy just the same, same, same.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
[or Ooka Sonna Donna Wanna]
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

She had two hairs on the top of her head
One was alive and the other was dead.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

She had two eyes in the front of her head
One was green and the other was red.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

She had two teeth in the front of her mouth
One pointed north and the other pointed south.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

She had two lips, two beautiful lips,
Shaped just like two battleships.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

Her nose was so long that when she sneezed
It got caught in between her knees.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

Her ears stuck out like the sails of a boat
Her Adam’s apple wandered up and down her throat.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

She loved to polish her fingernails
She bought her polish in ten gallon pails.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

The language that she spoke was an awful joke
Her head was made out of solid oak
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

Her feet were flat as bathroom mats
I forgot to ask how they got like that.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

A ten ton truck hit our Madaline
That was the end of that machine.
Catalina Madalina, Hoopin Stina, Walla dina
Oaka, Poka, Loka was her name.

LOL - So many different ways to say the name... Must have occured much like a round-robin story. I always heard it like this: Magdalina Hagdalina Whootinina Wallinina Hogan Bogan Logan was her name! the versus all sound familiar. Fun song for kids to sing and giggle.

This was a clapping game we did when I was a kid (Like Miss Mary Mack). -- Magdalena Hagdalena Okawaka Takawaka Oka Moka Poka was her name! She had two hairs on the top of her head, one was alive while the other was dead. She had two eyes in the middle of her head, one was brown while the other was red. She had two teeth in the middle of her mouth, one pointed east while the other pointed south. She had two feet like a bathroom mat, one took a shower while the other took a bath. We sang the same but with "She had a nose like a redwood tree, four foot nine by a hundred and three", "She had two feet like a bathroom matt, no one knows how they got like that." and it ended with "Magdalee got hit by a truck, poor old man had to buy a new machine."

Dr. Demento used to play a version of this song. One verse went: "Magdalena Hagdalena went to Catalina but she was so fat she should have stayed in Pasadena. 'Cause she sank the boat to the ocean floor and poor Magdalena had to swim to shore."

The first time I heard this song my Husband sang it to me. It went Madalina Catalina shumenhimer Bomunhimer, holey moley poker was her name. The rest is about the same. except the hair on her head. was one side was green, the other was red. And she had two remarkable teeth in her mouth, one pointed east and the other south. then the chorus. I thought he made it up at first until I meet his step Father. who sang it to me again. We hadn't been married very long at the time. Now he sings it to his Grandchildren.
