Refers to Mary Tudor, ( Mary I 1553 - 1558) daughter of King Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon, and half sister of Elizabeth I. She attempted to restore Roman Catholicism to England. The silver bells represent catholic priests and the cockleshells were the emblems of pilgrimage
