My Bonnie Has Tuberculosis
Song Lyrics & Words
My Bonnie has Tuberculosis
My Bonnie has one rotten lung
She spits up a bloody solution
and dries it and sells it for gum
Dentyne, Dentyne, Dentyne's the gum
yum yum, yum yum
Dentyne, Dentyne, Dentyne's the gum
yum yum!
Alternative Lyrics & Words
Gas Tank Version
My Bonnie looked into the Gas tank
The height of its contents to see.
She lit a small match to assist her,
Oh! Bring back my Bonnie to me!
Bring back, bring back,
Oh! Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me!
Bring back, bring back,
Oh! Bring back my Bonnie to me, to me!
Stomach Version
My stomach is in a commotion,
My head's hanging over the rail;
I don't want to dirty the ocean,
So someone please bring me a pail!
CHORUS
Come up, come up,
Oh come up, my dinner, come up, come up ..

Totally inappropriate for a childrens website. I am talking about the whole gross-out section.

Thank you for helping to preserve this and other songs that are a vital part of our culture and our history. There was a time when these things were a part of everyday life (before the world was politically sanitized). These bits of culture remind us what it was like to live in the days of our great grandparents.

Okay, folks. There was a time, in the not-too-distant past, when these songs were popular fare for kids on long bus rides to camp or field trips. Kids in the 7-13 range seem to have a penchant for "gross-out" things in general, with poetry and song in particular. In the halcyon days of our non-p.c. society, there were a staple. Of course, the same kids that sang these songs would never act that way individually, and was taught how to behave around others in other settings. These days, however, EVERYBODY has a "sensitivity" to something, somewhere. We have becom a world full of victims, which of course means that everyone has to be "sensitive" to everyone else. Political Correctness, which started out as a "nice idea" has gone the way we humans do everything. We pick it up and run off the face of the Earth with it. Words like "guts" and "puke" are abandoned to the "no-no closet" with words like idiot, moron, leper, and retard. My take on it is that the world was actually MORE civilized in public when releases like this were allowed.

This song "My Bonnie has Tuberculosis' is innappropriate and insensitive for the many people suffering from cancer and have many of the same symptoms. Why would we want children singing this?? This is a children's site..or am I mistaken??
