I have ten little fingers and ten little toes,
Two little arms and one little nose,
One little mouth and two little ears,
Two little eyes for smiles and tears,
One little head and two little feet,
One little chin makes me all complete!

Information About Ten Little Fingers

Recorded in 1974 by country singer Carroll Baker on her album I'd Go Through it All Again, "Ten Little Fingers" is first attributed to Edward G. Nelson and Ira Schuster. An inductee to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Schuster was popularly known by the name John Siras and also penned such well-known songs as "I Am an American".

This lighthearted children's tune was first published under the full title "Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes". Today, it stands out as an early notable example of children's music arising from the burgeoning music publishing business. As this industry, linked to Tin Pan Alley, took sail through the late 1900s and into the next century, children's songs such as "School Days" (Will Cobb and Gus Edwards) and "Ten Little Fingers" came to the world's attention.

Though written at the dawn of widespread music publication, this song remains a staple of nursery rhyme collections today. In addition to being sung by a variety of artists over its lifetime, "Ten Little Fingers" has been transformed into children's books, including the highly regarded 2008 version. written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury. Presented for an audience of Spanish-speaking children by Jose-Luis Orozco. the rhyme became Diez Deditos – Ten Little Fingers in 1997.
