"And The Green Grass Grows All Around" is a children's song that was first published in 1912. The word were written by William Jerome and the music by Harry Von Tilzer. Jerome was born in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, and wrote many popular songs. His wife was a songwriter as well, and is best known for a song called "Sweet Rosie O'Grady".

Von Tilzer left home as a young man and joined the circus, and played piano and wrote songs for the shows. He went on to compose music for early stage shows in America, which were called "Vaudeville", and later for Broadway plays and musicals.
