The Kitty Cats Party

Lyrics

At the kitty cats' party, all the kitties will be there!
They'll be dressed up in their sunday best with flowers in their hair!
Wearing red and yellow ribbons and a tiny tinker bell!
There'll be kitties from the city and the country there as well!

Come on, little-little-little kitty cat!
Grab yourself a partner, and let's dance!
Come on, little-little-little kitty cat!
Grab yourself a partner, and let's dance!

When it is time to eat, meow! Meow!
Cans of salmon piled up to the sky!
Each one has his little bowl of milk,
For desert there's catnip pie!

With their little bellies full, and a smile upon their face,
They'll curl up in a corner by a cozy fireplace,
Just a-purring and a-purring until there is not a peep,
And before you know it all the kitty cats are fast asleep!

Come on, little-little-little kitty cat!
Grab yourself a partner, and let's dance!
Come on, little-little-little kitty cat!

My girlfriend used to sing this, a memory from her childhood. There was another chorus that went something like this: Mr. Tommy Cat's invited just to play his violin, When the kitties choose their partners then the dancing will begin. But perhaps I ought to tell you why it's such a happy crowd: There's a sign upon the door that says no doggies are allowed! When it's time to eat, meow, meow.... etc.

I remember this on an tape deck for children in the 1980's. Sung by the LULLABY LADY. I think she was from Vancouver Island. Can't remember her name. But will google.

This song, since 2010 on BusSongs.com, has brought back memories of Rosemary Clooney!

When I was a kid I had an album (remember those?), Rosemary Clooney Sings for Children, and it had this song on it. Could not remember certain lyrics, so good that this was able to fill in the holes (and thanks to Ildiko in the U.S. for the missing verse -forgot some of those lyrics, too). Anyway, those looking for the tune might try tracking down this old RC recording . Good luck...

I've never heard the chorus, but when I heard this song it also had this verse: Mr. Tommy Cat's invited just to play his violin. When the kitties choose their partners then the dancing will begin. But I think I ought to tell you that in such a happy crowd, there's a sign upon the door that says, "No Doggies Are Allowed."
