White Coral Bells

White Coral Bells
Upon a slender stalk
Lilies of the valley deck my garden walk
Oh, don't you wish that you might hear them ring?
That will happen only when the fairies sing.

We sang this as a round in second grade 64 years ago. I still sing it to myself on occasion, not as a round, of course.

I must be about the same age as Charlie, above. This was sung as a round in my Brownies troop, and then Girl Scouts.

My grandma had Lilies of the Valley planted around her garage. We would visit my grandma in the morning and look at them. Then on the way to school my mom and I would sing this song as a round together. I sang the song to my kids when I became a mother. And I still sing it to myself today. My mom passed away 10 years ago this month and it's a nice memory I have of her.

My mother & I used to sing this all the time, especially on long car trips. I now sing this to my younger son as a lullaby (big brother doesn't like me to sing to him - as a professional singer that stings a bit). I just wish there were more stanzas. Maybe I'll try to make some up :)

Sang this song to my two children, and now my grandchildren. Spring is here and my two grandaughters are looking forward to the Lilies of the Valley blooming so they can sing as they admire their simple beauty! Seems like 60 or so years ago is the popular age! Me, too.

This song brings back memories of the Lily of the Valley flowers that were planted by the kitchen window. their smell permeated the air as you walked by the window. I can still picture my mom at the kitchen sink. Now each spring I look forward to that beautiful smell and the memories of my mom. It is my favorite flower.
