Information About Hickory Dickory Dock
"Hickory Dickory Dock" is a popular children's nursery rhyme. There is another similar rhyme that's often used as a second verse called "Hickory Dickory Dare" or "Dickery Dickery Dare". The UK version and the US version of the rhyme do not share the same melody.
"Tommy Thumb's Pretty Song Book" from 1744 has the first recorded version but with the opening line as "Hickere, Dickere Dock". This is followed by a 1765 listing in "Mother Goose's Melody" with the line 'Dickery, Dickery Dock'.
