Lyrics

Never Smile At A Crocodile!

Never smile at a crocodile!
No, you can't get friendly with a crocodile;
Don't be taken in by his welcome grin;
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin!
Never smile at a crocodile!
Never dip your hat and stop to talk awhile;
Never run, walk away; say good-night, not good-day;
Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile!

You may very well be well bred,
Lots of etiquette in your head,
But there's always some special case, time or place
To forget etiquette!
For instance: Never smile at a crocodile!
No, you can't get friendly with a crocodile;
Don't be taken in by his welcome grin;
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin!

Never smile at a crocodile!
Never dip your hat and stop to talk awhile;
Never run, walk away; say good-night, not good-day;
Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile!

Information About Never Smile At A Crocodile!

Mary Louise performed the song "Never Smile At A Crocodile" while riding a muppet crocodile through the swamp in an episode of classical show, 'The Muppet Show'. It was during the 114th episode in the series that was first broadcast in 1952. During the scene the crocodile can be seen eating several frogs that are in the lagoon with the pair.

The song's tune is from Disney's animated 1952 movie 'Peter Pan'; it appears on screen only as an instrumental and was used whenever the crocodile, Tick-Tock appears. The piece was originally created by Frank Churchill and Jack Lawrence. Lyrics were written for the piece but never made the final cut of the film. Instead the instrumental. Ironically the tune is so popular that it became one of the most famous deleted music pieces that Disney produced.

Henry Calvin later sung the song during the Disney video release of 'Disney Sing-along songs – Volume 6: Under the sea". The band that performed it is unknown.
