Lyrics

Wind The Bobbin Up

Wind the bobbin up, Wind the bobbin up
Pull, Pull, Clap, Clap Clap.
Wind the bobbin up, Wind the bobbin up
Pull, Pull, Clap, Clap Clap.

Point to the ceiling, Point to the floor
Point to the windows and point to the door.

Clap your hands together, One, Two, Three
Then put your hands down on your knees.

Information About Wind The Bobbin Up

Wind The Bobbin Up is a popular nursery rhyme for babies and also a singing game. This rhyme was traced by the makers, Iona and Peter Opie in Yorkshire back in the 1890s. During the 1960s and 70s when they were gathering games, the version that they came across with was sung as:Wind the bobbin up,Wind the bobbin up,Pull, pull,Tug, tug, tug.

The game that they collected in the 1970s involved two players who were winding their fists with each other. When the team sung "Pull, Pull" the 2 players removed their fists from each other, while the lyrics "Tug, Tug" made them put their elbows back. Today, Wind The Bobbin Up is played in a calm style with small kids acting in gestures while singing.
